Well, these are not really sketches of DOOM. Instead they were inspired by the madness you can see at one of my favorite recently discovered websites: http://www.sketchpadofdoom.blogspot.com/

After seeing the title post on the above website I immediately said “FUUUK MI” and went off to make some quick sketches. Here are the results:

Yes, that’s right, the last one features that pesky Pixar lamp!

This was an unplanned piece which I started a few days ago. I actually used line-art when I started this which is something I rarely do, typically I work directly with shapes and move those around… I realize my way is probably not optimal at all and I’ve seen many pros who teach otherwise but it’s what works for me.

Anyways, the results of this experiment are not half bad.

No references were used for any of this. Below you can see an accelerated WIP animated GIF:

This one was again mostly produced when one of my friends came over for a sketchathon. In particular we were working on drawing some hair.

All painted in Photoshop, refs were used to get some of the shadowing better but it’s not a portrait of anyone living that I’m aware of.
